"This is Bailey Lemcke. She has always been an actress at heart. When she isn't at home playing with her fur babies or at the gym workin' on her fitness, she is performing with The Paper Bag Players. She has only been in a few productions with the PBP. The productions include The Farndale Murder Mystery as Audrey, Willabella Witch's Last Spell as Princess Rapunzel, The Sword in the Stone as Princess Guenever and is currently playing Julie the Chambermaid in Perfect Wedding."

Meet The Cast - Ginnett Beattie as Daphne, Mother of the Bride

Ginnett Beattie will be playing Daphne, the Mother of the Bride in our upcoming Dinner Theatre December 1st, 2nd & 3rd. Check out her bio below!

"I am Ginnett Beattie, and my role in “Perfect Wedding” is Daphne, the emotional Mother of the Bride who is determined, no matter the circumstances, that a perfect wedding will take place. This is my second play with Yorkton Paper Bag Players and I have played a character named Daphne in both, with my previous character as Thelma/Daphne in “Murder and Checkmate Manor”. I grew up in Yorkton and I work as a manager at Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation in Melville, SK. I was always dramatic as a kid and it easily transitioned to stage in school at the Yorkton Regional High School and a few film and videos at the University of Regina many years ago. I have always enjoyed the fun and excitement of theatre and the Yorkton Paper Bag Players group is, by far, the most fun I have had acting."

Meet the Cast - Mike Thompson as Bill the Groom

Hello my name is Mike Thompson, and I will be portraying Bill, the harried groom in the upcoming performance of "Perfect Wedding".

I have been living in Yorkton for six years and work as an accountant with Collins Barrow PQ LLP.

This is my first play with the Yorkton Paper Bag Players, and unless you count my fourth grade school Christmas concert, it is my first time acting. I did do a pretty impressive Bob Saget in that though.

I wanted to try something new and so far it has been a lot of fun. Hope to see you out at the show!"

The show must go on...

An action packed week for the cast and crew and here is a sample of what we accomplished.

Huge thanks have to go to the Holiday Inn Express in Yorkton, for giving us a room to make our little promo video!

With no real place to call home, we are rehearsing in the Grace Presbyterian Church basement. It's an older building and the space is used by other groups, so there is no chance to put the set up and actually work with it. Our only option is to take advantage of the Ebenezer Community Centre 15 km north of Yorkton on the #9 highway.

We rent one of the old classrooms to store our sets and props...among lots of other things. The gym is available to rent, so when we have the chance...and the funds...we take advantage of it. This time, however, we had to do a split rental. We only had the weekend to build, set up, rehearse, tear down and put it all back in our storage.

The cast had to deal with a half painted set that was cobbled together, no real furniture to sit/lay on, but by golly, the doors all worked. This was really the most important part of the setup, since taped door frames on the walls of the church basement just don't work the best for timing...especially in a farce.

We also had a change in our cast, with Alicia Yashcheshen having to bow out due to work commitments. Stepping into the breech...as she had done on more than a couple of occasions...is our Madam President, Pamela Milani. She now has to move out of her assistant director chair and shift to taking some of her own medicine on stage. We are confident that she will fit into the part and make it her own...as she always does.

The cast bios will be covered in the next few blog entries and with the creative cast that we have, they are bound to be entertaining.
